Mission & Vision

Support that meets you in the moment you need it.

Camino North builds private, in-the-moment tools that support people through hard emotional moments — a supplement to professional care, never a substitute.

Our mission

Camino North builds private, in-the-moment tools that support people through hard emotional moments without ever telling them what to do. We’re a supplement to professional care, never a substitute, built on one belief: people already hold their own answers, and sometimes they just need a steady, judgment-free place to analyze, understand, and reach them.

Our vision

A world where anyone, whatever their journey or circumstances, can feel better in the moments they don’t, with support that’s there, at the exact second they need it.

Our North Star

Put private, in-the-moment emotional support in the hands of anyone in Canada who needs it: no appointment, no login, and never gated by cost or circumstance.

How we get there

Keep it radically private and instantly usable

On your device, no account, ready the second you open it.

Keep a free tier that genuinely helps

So price never turns anyone away.

Reach people through the organizations around them

Employers, community mental-health agencies, public health — to close the gaps where private care is too slow or too costly.

Make trust verifiable

Privacy you can check yourself, a clear line between support and treatment, and always pointing people in crisis toward real human help.

Grow a community around support outside the therapist’s office

So the people we serve shape what we build and carry the message forward.

What we are — and what we’re not

What we are

  • We are a supplement to professional care.
  • We support; we don’t diagnose, and we never tell you what to do.
  • We help you reflect privately.
  • If you’re in crisis, we point you to real human help, immediately.

What we’re not

  • Not a replacement for a therapist, a doctor, or a crisis line.
  • We don’t direct your choices or hand you answers.
  • We don’t watch, track, or sell what you share.
  • We are not emergency care.

Why we exist

It started with someone who needed help — and couldn’t easily find it.

Before Alberto Almeida oversaw British Columbia’s provincial crisis lines, he called one. That’s the reason this company exists: a conviction that support should meet people where they are, when they need it, with the fewest barriers possible.

That conviction became nearly a decade of work across BC’s mental health system — as a project manager, a director, and a client. He was part of the team that raised provincial crisis-line answer rates by more than 30%, helped strengthen 1-800-SUICIDE and 310-Mental Health Support, and helped St. Paul’s become an early North American adopter of the Safety Learning System in psychiatric care.

He’s also failed — projects that didn’t work taught the lesson that still guides everything here: lead with what people actually need, not just your own conviction, and keep iterating until it genuinely helps.
